Hitmaker Wafande will be performing at the Kronborg Cup’s opening event on Friday, August 11, at 5:00 p.m. at Helsingør Kulturhavn.
The opening event will conclude with a spectacular concert on the main stage in the middle of Kulturhavnen, where Wafande will kick off this year’s tournament with music and dancing for all participants and spectators.
Admission to the concert is free—even for those not participating in the Kronborg Cup—so bring your friends and family to Helsingør.
Wafande is one of the country’s best live entertainers, consistently energizing the audience with hits that have gone platinum over the years. Improvisation comes naturally to Wafande, and no two concerts are ever the same. But one thing is guaranteed: a huge party—every time.
Nick Rubin, chairman of KC-event, is looking forward to the concert and the opening event:
"We're looking forward to Wafande kicking off the 2023 Kronborg Cup with a spectacular party at the opening event."
"Admission is free for everyone in town—it's important to the Kronborg Cup that this also be a day of celebration for the entire town."
Award-winning artist who gets the party started
With massive hits, a radiant personality, and a one-of-a-kind voice, Wafande has sung his way into the hearts of the Danish people. On stage, he is undoubtedly one of the country’s best entertainers, captivating audiences time and time again with hits like “Se Mig I Dag,” “Django,” and “En Anden,” to name just a few.
2011 was the year Wafande broke through the sound barrier and made Denmark smile and shake its booty. It all happened with the biggest summer hit of the year: “Gi’ mig et smil.” The following year, Wafande cemented his status—this time with the platinum hit “Uartig”—proving he was here to stay. Since then, all of Denmark has come to know Wafande by his first name—especially after three full seasons as a coach on TV2’s *Voice Junior*.
His love for music is just as evident as his talent. Long before Wafande became the talk of the town, it was his love for music that was the driving force in his life. That love shines through not only in his compositions and songwriting, but also, to a great extent, on stage with his band backing him up. For it is here that Wafande proves time and time again why he is one of Denmark’s absolute top live performers.
Since his gold-certified debut album*Du Ved Det*, released on Universal Music in 2011, the ever-hardworking singer has long since emerged from the underground, and there are few Danes who don’t know Wafande and his music. In 2014, Wafande released his second full-length album,*Nyt Land*. In 2015, the soulful single “Himlen for mig selv” from the EP*Grand Danois* was released and immediately became “Ugens Uundgåelige” on P3.
A Joyful Reunion
In 2014, Wafande also attended the Kronborg Cup for the opening event. Back then, the tournament was smaller than it is today, so Wafande will now be performing in front of a larger audience of soccer players.
"The concert still stands out clearly in our memory as a fun and entertaining event for our participants. We are therefore looking forward to him visiting Helsingør once again," says Nick Rubin.

Over the years, the venue has hosted artists such as Bro, Djämes Braun, and Pharfar, among others.

Mark your calendars now for Friday, August 11. We're looking forward to a fantastic party!
