Scandinavian Soccer Community at the 2025 Kronborg Cup
More than 60 boys' and girls' teams from Sweden and Finland have crossed the Øresund to participate in the Kronborg Cup 2025.
It’s fantastic to see how the fields and accommodations are buzzing with an international atmosphere and cross-border competition. The Kronborg Cup steering committee is very enthusiastic about the international participation:
"The foreign teams add great value to the tournament and to the Danish soccer players. The foreign teams often bring a slightly different approach to soccer, and this creates a different atmosphere among the young people when the language is different," says Frederik Hertz, chairman of the Kronborg Cup.
The Kronborg Cup has been a really great experience so far We’ve spoken with FC Kontu (Boys 2012) from Finland, Hässleholms IF (Boys 2014) from Sweden, and FC Honka (Girls 2014) from Finland.
What do you think of the Kronborg Cup so far? "Great fields, friendly and helpful volunteers. The tournament is well organized, and we’re having good interactions with the locals. The atmosphere is really great, and the match schedule is good," Marleena , Team Manager, FC Honka.
"The Kronborg Cup has been a really great experience so far. Great matches, a great atmosphere, nice people, and really well organized," Henri Koivunen, Coach, FC Kontu.
"Really great. Everything is in the same area. We’re staying at a school close to the venue, so it’s great that everything is in one place. The tournament organizers and referees are experienced. It’s a big difference compared to playing with younger referees. It’s a great tournament. I can definitely recommend it for younger teams,” Ted Petersson, Coach, Hässleholms IF
What did you think of the opening event?
"An interesting program. Some activities could have been open for even longer. And it would be nice to have a few more vegetarian dishes," Marleena, Team Leader, FC Honka.
"The opening event was really fun and entertaining. Helsingør is a beautiful city, and it was really great to see so many locals showing their support and cheering us on," Henri Koivunen, Coach, FC Kontu.
"It was a fun opening ceremony. The players thought it was fun," Ted Petersson, Coach, Hässleholms IF
Why did you decide to participate in the Kronborg Cup?

"To play against new teams, have a great tournament, and face challenging matches. We're really looking forward to seeing how we stack up in an international tournament," Marleena, Team Manager, FC Honka
