The Great March
Get out your club jerseys, flags, and cheers. Accompanied by music and a festive atmosphere, each participating club will be introduced, and then all participants will march through downtown Helsingør, where the local residents will welcome them to the city. It’s always a truly memorable experience for the players to be part of this grand parade filled with dancing, fun, and high spirits. Line up for the opening parade at 5:00 p.m., and the parade kicks off at 5:15 p.m., when the first clubs set off.
The Kronborg El Cup will be held as an opening tournament in conjunction with the opening event at Helsingør Kulturhavn. We welcome everyone, regardless of skill level.
Is it possible to arrive directly at the opening event (before checking in at the accommodation)?
Yes, you’re more than welcome to do that, but we recommend that teams check in at their accommodations and then head down to the opening event if they’ve booked a bus. If you’re arriving in your own bus or car, you’re welcome to go directly to the opening event.
How do you get to and from the opening event?
Shuttle buses will run all Friday afternoon from the accommodations to the opening event at Kulturhavnen and back. To use the shuttle buses, you must select this option. Kulturhavnen is just a 2-minute walk from Helsingør Station, where the Kystbanen train runs directly to the station and ferries from Sweden dock. There are several parking options available at Kulturhavnen.
Is admission to the opening event free for everyone, or is it only for teams staying at the venue?
Yes, admission is free for everyone—including participants who are not staying at the venue. We hope to see as many people as possible at the opening event, which will feature a variety of activities, contests, a concert, an opening march, and much, much more. It’s always a great experience for the players to be part of the grand march through the streets of Helsingør, accompanied by music and battle cries.
Is admission free for all the activities at the opening event?
Most activities simply require you to show up, and admission is free. However, there are a few activities that, for various practical reasons, require you to make a reservation before the opening event. You can read more about this and reserve a spot here (link to subpage).
When should we be ready for the opening march?
The lineup for the opening march through the city of Helsingør is at 5:00 p.m., and the march begins at 5:15 p.m., when the first clubs set off. The clubs march together as a single group.
Can you buy food and drinks at the opening event?
Yes, you can, and there’s a wide variety to choose from! At the event venue, there will be food trucks and grills serving food and drinks, as well as Spisehuset at Kulturværftet. You can also visit Værftets Madmarked, which is located right next to the event venue. Please note: Dinner for guests staying overnight is included in the accommodation package.
BUS TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE OPENING EVENT
On Friday, there will be a shuttle bus from the school to the opening event at Kulturhavnen, Allegade 2, 3000 Helsingør, and back.
The Kronborg Cup is an international soccer tournament for youth teams—the largest tournament on Zealand—held every year during the last week of the summer school break.
