The Kronborg Cup is an association consisting of seven soccer clubs that organize the Kronborg Cup each year. If there is a surplus from that year’s event after the Kronborg Cup, the majority of it goes back to the partner and organizing clubs behind the Kronborg Cup. In addition, a small portion of the surplus is used to secure and develop the tournament for the future. Consequently, there are no investors or companies taking the surplus away from the clubs and local associations in the municipality. In other words, the volunteers’ hard work helps generate a very important financial contribution to soccer and sports at the local level.
The Kronborg Cup has collectively contributed over 3 million DKK to support and development in the Municipality of Helsingør. Among other things, this has helped develop sports and soccer programs in Helsingør Municipality through a unique collaboration across clubs and has enabled support for young soccer players and sports programs at clubs in the local community. In this way, the Kronborg Cup becomes more than just a soccer tournament; it is a soccer community within the municipality, whose core mission is to organize the Kronborg Cup for the benefit of children and young people and to promote Helsingør Municipality.
The Kronborg Cup does not accept applications for funding, as we generally only provide financial support to organizations that have helped out during the Kronborg Cup.

The majority of the proceeds from the Kronborg Cup go to youth soccer programs at the soccer clubs in the municipality that organize the tournament. The funding is used, among other things, for team trips to tournaments in Denmark and abroad, experiences for young soccer players, support for events and tournaments for socially vulnerable youth players who lack the financial means at home, and for the training of coaches and managers in the clubs.

Every year, the Kronborg Cup provides funding to a number of small local organizations in the Municipality of Helsingør that help out over the weekend with tasks that lighten the load for the Kronborg Cup’s many volunteers.

In the past, the Kronborg Cup, in collaboration with FANT (Football for A New Tomorrow), has collected used soccer cleats from Kronborg Cup participants and soccer jerseys for children in Sierra Leone who do not have the same opportunities as those in Denmark.
