THANK YOU FOR THIS YEAR—2024!

The final goal has been scored, the final match has ended, and the final medals have been awarded at the 2024 Kronborg Cup! It was fantastic to see all the participants again at the opening ceremony and out on the fields, as well as all the spectators on the sidelines.

2024 was a record year for the Kronborg Cup in terms of the number of overnight stays. Approximately 2,600 participants stayed overnight this year in connection with the Kronborg Cup—a new record.

This year’s opening event featured, among others, a visit from Christopher Aarlit Bach, who brought great joy and excitement to the stage with his freestyle shows, followed by the opportunity to play 1-on-1 and have photos taken. A number of the Kronborg Cup’s partners had organized various activities, all of which set the stage for a fantastic event. As a new feature this year, the opening march kicked off from the stage with a performance by Wafande. This set just the right mood before all participants set off on the grand march through the city of Helsingør, accompanied by festive music and chants in all the Scandinavian languages.

"It got off to a rough start with rain and strong winds. But as the afternoon wore on, the sun began to come out, and it turned into a really great afternoon with many visitors and participants, as well as locals who stopped by Kulturhavnen. We want to create an event that not only attracts all participants as a warm-up for the weekend’s matches, but also locals and tourists who want to try out different activities and, above all, experience the atmosphere and sense of community that a soccer tournament for children and young people creates. It was a truly festive afternoon thanks to all the visitors and the activities organized by our partners, says Frank S. Jensen, who was in charge of the opening event.

On Saturday morning, the 2024 Kronborg Cup officially kicked off for the more than 500 participating teams. No fewer than 1,155 matches were played over the weekend, featuring many spectacular goals—a total of 5,286, in fact—serving as excellent preparation for the fall season.

The atmosphere on the sidelines was great, and the weather was on the side of both the players and the spectators. Once again this year, we welcomed many spectators from near and far. A total of 60 Swedish, three Norwegian, and one Finnish team participated in this year’s tournament. The international teams add a positive and global touch to the tournament.

The Kronborg Cup is a recreational tournament focused on the game itself and preparations for the fall season. But on Sunday afternoon, the winners of each division were honored at an awards ceremony held at each of the eight venues. In the younger age groups, each team received a commemorative medal. "It was another really great Kronborg Cup with lots of happy kids and teens on the fields. We could really sense the participants’ joy at returning to a soccer tournament after summer break, where the young people could once again come together around soccer. There was a great atmosphere and fair play across the board, even though some were a bit frustrated with their performances,” says Frederik Hertz, chair of the Kronborg Cup steering committee.

Thank You to Volunteers and Partners
On behalf of the Kronborg Cup, we would like to extend a big thank you to all volunteers and partners.

Over the weekend, 800 volunteers helped ensure that the entire event ran smoothly and that the many thousands of visitors had a great time.

Freder Hertz can't imagine the Kronborg Cup without the volunteers:

"A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers at the schools, the venues, the opening event, and the many volunteers 'behind the scenes' who have spent hours, days, and weeks helping with the Kronborg Cup. It would not be possible to host such a large tournament with several thousand participants spread across so many different locations without the volunteers,”

A special thank you also goes out to all of the Kronborg Cup’s sponsors and partners from Nick Rubin, chairman of Kronborg Cup Event:

"Once again this year, we have greatly appreciated the tremendous support and assistance from our sponsors and partners. Everyone is committed to creating the best possible setting for the tournament and for the opening event, with a variety of activities. A big thank you goes out to everyone—without them, we wouldn’t have the resources to put on such a large event."

We look forward to seeing you again at the Kronborg Cup 2025—August 8–10, 2025!
