The sponsorship strengthens the local electric utility's community ties and visibility, while also supporting local sports.
When Zealand’s largest soccer tournament, the Kronborg Cup, kicks off on the weekend of August 8–10, 2025, the Kronborg Els logo will once again appear on the tournament jerseys. The local electric utility has just renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Kronborg Cup and will thus support the tournament for the next three years. At the same time, the utility will continue to co-host the mini-tournament, the Kronborg El Cup, which is for boys and girls ages five and six and takes place on opening day with active help and support from Kronborg El.
The Kronborg Cup steering committee is pleased with Kronborg El’s continued support for the tournament:
“We are thrilled that Kronborg El continues to support and sponsor our major soccer tournament. Local support is important to us. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to hold the tournament, and that also applies to the soccer tournament for the youngest participants on opening day, which Kronborg El has been supporting for several years now. The Kronborg Cup is for all soccer-loving kids, and Kronborg El helps make that possible with their support and sponsorship,” says Frank Jensen, a member of the Kronborg Cup steering committee.
Part of the marketing strategy
Frederik Esbensen Lynge, Head of Customer and Business Development at Forsyning Helsingør, explains the purpose of the sponsorship here:
“Kronborg El is the local electric utility, and that’s why we’re committed to fostering an active local community. Partnering with the Kronborg Cup is a natural fit, because we want to help energize local communities. Supporting local sports and cultural events is an important part of our identity and marketing. The sponsorship agreement with—and support for—the Kronborg Cup is a great platform for Kronborg El, providing valuable exposure to a target audience that is of interest to us.”
Kronborg El is sold through Forsyning Helsingør Kronborg Elhandel A/S. Unlike most other companies in the Forsyning Helsingør Group, it is a company operating in a competitive environment, active in a liberalized market with competitors. Each year, the company generates a small profit, which is used to keep electricity prices reasonably low and to carry out marketing activities that benefit the local community in the areas of sports and culture.
