The Kronborg Cup is only possible because so many people pitch in—and we need you!
Over 700 volunteers will be helping out throughout the weekend to create the best possible setting and experience for participants and spectators. You can help make that happen by joining the Kronborg Cup volunteer corps.
Some spend 3–4 hours, others spend a day or the entire weekend. Every single volunteer makes a huge difference—we need all the help we can get.
The volunteers help provide meals and lodging for over 2,000 participants spread across the schools, organize the opening event with several thousand visitors, run over 1,000 matches, accommodate several thousand spectators, and handle sales at the venues.
We can always use more volunteers for school duty, booths, cooking, cleanup, parking duty, event offices, and much more.
All proceeds from the Kronborg Cup are distributed to the clubs behind the Kronborg Cup. The tremendous efforts of the volunteers help generate a significant financial contribution to the youth divisions of local soccer clubs.
Volunteer work is unpaid, but we’ll provide meals for your invaluable help, and we guarantee a great atmosphere and social interaction within the community of Denmark’s best volunteer corps.
As a volunteer, you’ll help create unforgettable experiences for young soccer players while also supporting local sports clubs.
Testimonials from Volunteers
I’m really looking forward to volunteering at the Kronborg Cup again this year. It’s great to see how the tournament has grown over the years.
The camaraderie and positive spirit among the volunteers—across different age groups and local soccer clubs—are fantastic for soccer in the Municipality of Helsingør.
In recent years, I’ve also met volunteers who aren’t usually involved in soccer but who wanted to lend a hand to bring joy to children and young soccer players.
It’s fun to be part of the development of this soccer tournament, which just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The best thing about being volunteers is that we have a LOT of fun at the same time.
Lise Fritzbøger and Anne-Cathrine Hof
It was a pleasure to help out and volunteer, and on top of that, it was super fun and cozy despite how busy the kitchen was, but we managed it together.
Jeanette Watson Andersen
Beautiful. We can be proud of the tremendous dedication and volunteer spirit that’s been mobilized—people who care deeply about the city, sports, and our community! A huge thank you to everyone for a fantastic weekend!

Volunteer Opportunities
Staff at food stands/in the kitchen at the facility
Without food and drink, the hero can’t perform. Hardworking soccer players, coaches, and spectators will need lunch, coffee, healthy snacks, and more throughout Saturday and Sunday. In the café/kitchen, you’ll be part of a dynamic team responsible for preparing food at the sports facilities and handling sales in the kitchen and at food and beverage stands. You don’t need to have professional experience working in a kitchen or in sales. The most important things are a can-do attitude and a commitment to serving our visitors. As a volunteer at the food stands and in the kitchen, you’ll have the chance to meet lots of young, happy soccer players.
System Support and Service
A large number of participants and spectators visit the many venues over the weekend. The first thing they encounter are the parking lots, and at most venues, they are also greeted by parking attendants who ensure there is plenty of space for the many vehicles. The support and service teams handle a wide range of ad hoc tasks, including light cleaning and tidying up, assistance with practical tasks, and—most importantly—smiles and a cheerful attitude.
Tournament Office
The tournament office at the venue is the sporting hub of the tournament. This is where results, the match schedule, referees, and other matters are managed. The tournament office serves the many participants, referees, and spectators. In practice, the tournament office also serves as an information desk, where people can ask questions about the tournament, things to do in Helsingør, transportation, lost and found items, and more.
Judges
5- and 8-player matches are officiated by volunteer referees/game officials, while 11-player matches are officiated by certified referees. You do not need to be a certified referee, but to ensure that matches run smoothly, it would be an advantage if you have experience officiating matches for the youngest age groups.
Food and Kitchen at the Accommodation
There will be plenty of soccer fans to feed over the weekend. Breakfast and dinner will be served on Saturday and Sunday at the accommodations for approximately 2,500 participants. As a volunteer, you’ll help prepare and serve food, set up, clean up, and provide excellent service. As a volunteer on the food team, you’ll have the chance to meet lots of young, happy soccer players. The food and kitchen areas are a great place to volunteer if you want to watch your child’s games during the day on the weekend.
Accommodations/Information
The work at the accommodations (schools) involves serving guests over the weekend. They must be greeted with a smile and checked in, but before that, the schools must be prepared. Participants are responsible for tidying up and cleaning after themselves, but the schools must also be prepared for the start of the school day the following day with the necessary cleaning. For the participants’ safety, there are fire watchers on duty around the clock, and the information desk must be staffed 24/7. Before the participants leave the schools on Sunday, they must be checked out with a smile and, hopefully, a “see you again.”
Opening Event
There would be no festivities at Kulturhaven without volunteers. To ensure the opening event runs smoothly, the volunteers handle information, activities, booths, the opening parade, and—most importantly—spread joy and provide excellent service to the participants. The opening event on Friday afternoon/evening is a great time to help out if you want to watch your child’s games over the weekend.
Setup and Takedown
The framework for the Kronborg Cup must be in place before soccer can be played—and you’ll be helping to make that happen here. As a volunteer for setup and takedown, you’ll help prepare the facilities, schools, and the opening event. Your tasks will include setting up and receiving equipment, connecting equipment, setting up barriers, arranging rooms and seating areas, and much more. If you’re a handyman or handywoman, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Logistics
The behind-the-scenes work involved in logistics isn’t something participants necessarily see, but it’s still an incredibly important task for keeping the whole operation running smoothly. In logistics, you need to be open to different kinds of tasks and ready to get physically active. The logistics team helps ensure the best possible service for participants and volunteers. Logistics tasks include, for example, driving a transport vehicle, sorting goods, and managing the warehouse.
and much more. If you’re a handyman or handywoman, this is the perfect role for you.
Administration
Organizing a tournament like the Kronborg Cup requires preparation. As an administrative volunteer, you’ll help prepare for next year’s Kronborg Cup by taking on a wide variety of tasks based on your own interests and preferences. Here, you can put your interests and skills to use in the diverse and exciting tasks involved in organizing one of Denmark’s largest soccer tournaments.

FAQ - About Volunteering
Can I volunteer for the Kronborg Cup?
YES, you can—there’s room for everyone with a positive attitude and a can-do spirit on the world’s best volunteer team! You don’t have to be affiliated with a soccer club or be a soccer fan to volunteer for the Kronborg Cup. However, there may be a few tasks that require you to be over 18, such as driving, serving as a fire safety officer, or performing tasks that are particularly physically demanding.
How many hours do I need to volunteer?
Whatever you feel like doing and whatever works for you! We don’t have any requirements regarding the number of hours—we’re just really grateful for your help. So you can help out for a couple of hours, half a day, a full day, or the entire weekend. In terms of planning, however, it would make things easiest for the volunteer coordinators if your shifts are generally no shorter than 3–4 hours.
What do volunteers do?
As a volunteer, there are many different tasks to choose from—you can pick based on your own interests and personality. The list of tasks is long, so there’s no single answer to what you’ll do as a volunteer—you can do a little bit of everything. We need volunteers to serve food and drinks to the many players and spectators at the sports complex and accommodations; to referee games for the younger age groups; to ensure a safe and pleasant environment at the accommodations through security and food service teams; and to set up and take down the opening event and sports complex—just to name a few.
I'd like to volunteer, but my child plays, and I usually stand on the sidelines—can I still volunteer?
YES! And you’re more than welcome! The tournament schedule will be ready in mid-July, and after that, you can plan which venue to sign up for if you want to be at the same venue as your child. Of course, you also have the option to volunteer at other times outside of tournament hours—for example, at the opening ceremony and at the lodging facilities.
What do I get for volunteering?
Volunteering for the Kronborg Cup isn’t paid—BUT you make a HUGE difference for the Kronborg Cup and the soccer clubs behind the tournament. As a volunteer, you’ll receive a free Adidas T-shirt, meals while you’re on duty, and—last but not least—a fun and social experience with lots of wonderful volunteers and happy young soccer players. Plus, you’ll be helping to support the soccer clubs.
Where do I sign up to volunteer?
Thank you for your interest—you can sign up here or volunteer at your local soccer club.
